Build Your Own Security Lab
Turn one spare Debian machine into a working security lab — logins, blocked traffic and running programs all captured and searchable in Splunk, the same tool analysts sit in front of in a real SOC. No Linux experience needed.

Copying a long command? Check it's on one line before you press Enter — long addresses can pick up a line break where they wrapped.
Validation Scripts
Run these on the lab machine to confirm your setup worked.
This script checks every checkpoint in Sections 1 to 8 in one go: copy rqlab_validate.sh to the lab machine and run ./rqlab_validate.sh. It only reads — it changes nothing — and it prints a list of anything that was missed.
PLACEHOLDER — supply this script's real name and a one-line description of what it checks. The guide itself only names rqlab_validate.sh.
